- In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch, lemon juice, nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
- Gradually add the cornstarch mixture to the saucepan with the wine and garlic, whisking constantly.
- Once the mixture has thickened, add the shredded cheese to the saucepan, one handful at a time, stirring constantly until the cheese is melted and smooth.
- Transfer the cheese fondue to a fondue pot, and keep it warm over a flame.
- Serve the cheese fondue with crusty bread, raw vegetables, or any other dipping items of your choice.
