- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs, room temperature
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 4 1/2-5 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

- In a large bowl, combine the warm water, yeast, and sugar. Stir gently until the yeast is dissolved and the mixture starts to foam, about 5 minutes.
- Add the eggs, oil, and salt to the yeast mixture and stir to combine.
- Gradually add the flour, one cup at a time, stirring until a soft dough forms.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let rise in a warm, draft-free place until doubled in size, about 1-2 hours.
- Preheat the oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C). Grease a large baking sheet or line with parchment paper.
- Divide the dough into three equal parts. Roll each part into a long, thin rope.
- Braid the ropes together and place the braid on the prepared baking sheet. Cover with a clean kitchen towel and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Brush the risen loaf with the beaten egg wash and bake for 30-35 minutes, until the loaf is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
- Remove the loaf from the oven and let cool completely on a wire rack. Slice and serve warm or at room temperature.
