Norwegian Kringla Recipe

- 1 cup of unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 1 cup of granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 3 cups of all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons of baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt

- 1/4 cup of heavy cream
- Decorative sugar, for dusting (optional)

- Preheat your oven to 400Β°F (200Β°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, making sure each one is fully incorporated before adding the next.
- Sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt, and gently fold into the butter mixture.
- Stir in the vanilla extract and heavy cream.
- Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces, and shape each one into a twisted rope.
- Place the kringla on the prepared baking sheet, and brush with egg wash.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 5 minutes.
- Dust with decorative sugar, if desired.

To make the kringla extra flaky, you can use half butter and half shortening, or all shortening.
