Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 pounds flank steak, sliced into thin strips
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup diced onion
- 4 cloves minced garlic
- 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water
- Sesame seeds, garnish
- Cooked rice, serving

Instructions:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the beef, cornstarch, salt, and pepper. Toss until the beef is evenly coated.
- In a large saucepan, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Add the beef and cook until browned, about 2-3 minutes. Transfer the beef to a slow cooker.
- Add the onion and garlic to the saucepan and cook until fragrant, about 2 minutes. Transfer the onion and garlic to the slow cooker.
- In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, hoisin sauce, 1/4 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of cornstarch, and 2 tablespoons of water. Pour the mixture over the beef in the slow cooker.
- Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 4 hours, or until the beef is tender and the sauce has thickened.
- Serve the Mongolian beef over cooked rice and garnish with sesame seeds.
